Our Practice in Houston

Dr. Nancy Stephens is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist with experience in the co-management of refractive and cataract surgery patients, dry eye examinations, routine family eye care, specialty contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of ocular disease. She is also involved in ophthalmic clinical trials, both surgical and pharmaceutical. She has experience in and has enjoyed teaching optometry students as they have rotated through her previous clinic as 4th-year students. As the new owner, Dr. Stephens shares Dr. Kwan’s vision of creating a concierge-like approach to patient care and awareness of her patients’ overall health.

Dr. Stephens graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2014. While attending optometry school, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa National Optometric Honor Society and received numerous awards, including Letters of Clinical Excellence, the Grand Rounds Award, and the Excellence in Medical Eye Service Award. She also received a nomination for the Pediatric Optometry Award.

Dr. Stephens is a member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She is actively involved in her church as a volunteer and enjoys serving the community both domestically and abroad through medical missions and giving back to various non-profit organizations.

When not at work, Dr. Stephens loves spending time with her husband, Bryan, and 2 daughters, Hanna and Camille.

Dr. Margaret Kwan is a therapeutic optometrist with over 30 years of experience. She founded Weslayan Eye Associates in 1986 and prides herself in a concierge-like approach to patient care. She concentrates not only on eye care but the overall health and well-being of each and every patient.

Because of Dr. Kwan’s well-established presence in the West University area, Weslayan Eye Associates is privileged to have a highly qualified network of specialists we can refer patients to, if needed, who can help manage eye health in all aspects.

Dr. Kwan was born in Hong Kong, lived in Australia as a teenager, and moved to Houston in 1972. She attended the University of Houston and earned both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees.

When not at work, Dr. Kwan enjoys yoga, golfing, and anything related to fitness. She also loves spending time with her husband and their chihuahua/pomeranian mix dog, Jessie.

Deanna, our office manager, joined the Weslayan Eye Associates team 10 years ago. She loves being in this friendly, family-oriented atmosphere with the doctors, her co-workers, and our wonderful new and well-established patients, many of which have been coming to us for over 20 years.

Through the years, Deanna has learned many aspects of optometry, from performing preliminary testing to repairing and fitting glasses, ordering contact lenses, data entry, and office management.

Deanna is a native Houstonian (Go Astros and Go Texans!) and has 2 grown children, Justin and Faith. Justin is an actor and also works in the optometric field, and Faith is a visual artist who works at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.

Deanna is still waiting on grandkids, so when she’s not attending to her 2 puppies and 2 cats, she’s usually working on some type of craft. She loves making beaded jewelry, paper crafts, refurbishing furniture, sewing, and working in her yard.
